Mahwah, NJ – In response to President Trump’s comments yesterday from the White House suggesting a link between Tylenol use during pregnancy and autism, Spectrum Care Management & Counseling (CMC) is urging the national conversation to focus less on speculation and more on solutions that directly improve the lives of people with autism and other developmental disabilities.
“With 1 in 31 children diagnosed with autism, families are already carrying the weight of uncertainty,” said Spectrum CMC Founder and CEO Benni Versaci. “The best way we can help them is not by dwelling on theories, but by providing access to real resources, such as career supports, therapies, and inclusive community opportunities that foster dignity and independence.”
Serving thousands of families across New Jersey over the last 20 years, Spectrum Care has taken concrete steps to remove barriers for those navigating the system. In fact, earlier this month, they became the state’s first support coordination agency to hire a dedicated in-house Medicaid Specialist, reducing red tape and helping families access vital services faster.
“Speculation about what causes autism has gone on for decades,” Versaci added. “But what parents and adults living with autism tell us every day is that what they need most is action, more opportunity, and real investment in their futures, not bureaucracy and costly studies that never seem to produce any concrete results or answers.” As the nation marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month this October, Spectrum Care will host workshops to empower families and employers with the tools to create inclusive workplaces and expand opportunities for adults with autism and Down Syndrome.
